What is wrong with could computing?

In time past, when the idea of cloud computing was first introduced, the major online store giant, Amazon was regarded as the power house of cloud computing business when it began venture into cloud computing, pilling up market shares in the cloud computing area as it did with the online store. Thereby seeking to gain dominancy in cloud computing.

This made many companies come to a resolution not to depend on Amazon alone as amazon will be the major decision maker. The reason been that it will create a monopolistic market. Also, this decision was reinforced by the fact that glitches could occur which Amazon might not be able to handle alone when it eventually happens. This in turn can affect companies using their cloud platform for their business. For example, if this happens, it is going to alter their revenue and sales growth (although it might something drastic and gross as many have thought because Amazon over the years has build trust when it comes with customer satisfaction hence when this happens they will be swift to deploy all the resources needed to solve it).

Microsoft then came into the picture as the second in the cloud computing market when it created an arm of its unit which is the Microsoft’s Azure cloud service. This unit supplies cloud-based computer storage and processing facilities also, which was directly able to compete with Amazon Web service.

Overtime, what people has presumed to be the major problem of cloud computing is “loss (actually the fear of loss) and theft”. Personally, before I knew about the common mobile phone cloud platform which is goggle drive, I cry each time I lose a file arising from different circumstance mostly beyond my control. I cry because I am aware that I will never get that file back, expect I get it from someone I once gave to.

Storage, protection has been one of the fore-front solution that cloud computing seeks to solve amidst other.

One of the benefits of cloud computing is the ability to access anything ranging from applications to storage uploaded on the cloud service provider. Another benefit is the cost it helps industries especially I.T firms to cut whereby they don’t need to spend money to build and maintain their own cloud infrastructure. Hence, with cloud computing which tech giant has venture into, they simply can pay for what they use and when they use it.

Arising to the fact that the gathering or accumulation of data, is said to be on a geometric exponential increase than what was been recorded in 2010. The question which then arise from this study is where do we store this data; how secure can this data be?

To answer the question how secured the data can be, apart from the fact that you will stop spending money running and maintaining data centers, Microsoft have to installed their data at coast of California at a depth of 117 feet's below the sea surface. The reason given is because of its reliance on cold ocean water to keep the systems humming which in-turns helps with the cooling of the server. The name given to this project is called “project Natick”. Project Natick, gets its electrical power that power the server under the sea from a wind farm located in Orkney Islands. Also, the cable used in transporting this electrical power double as well as serves as the conduit for the data processed under the sea.

What does this tell us? This tells us how much resources are put into making our data stored in this system is been protected and more importantly, how much this data can’t be lost or missing.

Data is King, storage (cloud computing) is the Queen!

Another thing people consider to be wrong with cloud computing which I consider as a mere assumption is that it is can be easily hacked.

In a recent report by the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos he stated clearly that their Amazon cloud service has never been hacked and show what type of security measurement which was added to it we can see that there is no way for hackers to have access to the cloud platform nor your data's.

This does not negate the fact that if you mistakenly give people access, or your access code and details is been stolen such that they have access to your own data based on the cloud computing system, that via this means they will have access to the whole platform. No, they won’t. take for example in an hotel, there are many rooms and you only pick a room if you loose your own key let say due to misappropriation, the theifs can only come to your room because your key can only open your door and not every door in the hotel as many has wrongly assume.

The cloud computing platform is an amazing platform everyone needs to use. Aside the fact that it helps to cut cost for big industry and save them the time to start building a cloud infrastructure, one major solution it seeks to bring is data storage and protection not only to big industries but also to individual who needs them.
